Problems/questions on new AMT Torino re-pop

Hi guys,

I wanted to ask you all if anyone has had experience with the new AMT repops of the old Johan Ford Torino and Cyclone kits, which have recently been re-released?

The reason I'm asking is because I recently got a bagged  "donor kit" off eBay which seems to have been the original Johan Torino. I was intending to build it as Buddy Baker's "RC Cola" car. It is exactly the same as the new Torino, even down to the same instruction booklet--only the molding was pretty sloppy.

Now, I'm no novice builder, and have had my share of ill-fitting models that I've salvaged through creative surgery and gizmology, but I had so many fit problems with this model that I just couldn't get it together. The stance and sit of the body was waaay high; it seemed to be hitting on the rear wall where it lines up to the rear window  and the dash as well; the wheels were at least half a centimeter off from center, and the body sat high over them. I just couldn't salvage it.

Anybody build the new kit yet? Any advice on things to do differently, or fit problems that you can report? I"m about to go into the second, "new" kit here, and would greatly appreciate any advice to help me with a successful build!
